Tulip Festival in Kashmir:


I am starting my journey with the most famous and recommendable festival in "The Kashmir".Tulip Garden Festival.

Time to visit the heavenly fest: 

March End to April End.

Remember:

  • Always carry plenty of warm clothes
  • Museum is closed in Monday
  • Kashmiri cuisines are available in every corner however few restaurants are very famous amongst the clan "Idus (Shervani Road) & Shamiyana (Boulevard Road) "


You can feel that you are a part of famous hindi movie "Silsila".You can see snow covered mountain along with cloud clad spring.In midst of all these you can able to see colorful Tulips smiling like a baby.
During festival different kind of cultural shows and handicraft fairs are organized by the government. Main show is organized in Shiraz Bag which is close to Chasme sahi which is also known as Tulip Garden.
You can also see shows in different parks in Kashmir like Zabarwan Park , Royal Spring golf course, Dachigam National Park,Nishath Bag etc places.
You can also participate in different programmes in Dhal Lake.Different water sports are available during this period in Kashmir.
However you must have the most amazing lip-smacking Kashmiri "Wazwan"


Apart from Dhal lake you can enjoy a boat ride in Nagin lake.

Certain places which are close to "Nagin Lake"and must watch places are sultani Fort in Hari Mountain.Hajratbal,and most remarkable Kashmir University.  

Once you  compete visiting lhese awesome places just walk down to Ganderbal.Ganderbal Road (Bihama) in the district.

Kheer Bhawani temple is 5 kms away from Ganderbal.A wonderful spiritual experience which will give you a divine experience.Kheer Bhawani is one of the "Sakti Pith".

Kheer Bhawani is surrounded by Chinar Treeor Booune,You can aslo able to see Almond Tree and Cherry plant.
You can see yellow field with master flowers and blue mountain.
You can enjoy the bridge close o kheer bhawani,a bridge over a canal.Crystal clear water is flowing over the canal.You can see your face in the water.Stand on the bridge and enjoy the view.The blue mountain and blue sky and water.Hmm. enjoying.Have a cup of tea and snaks in " Friends  Punjabi Rasoi" whilc is just next to the Bridge.
The next stop is "Sonmarg".On the way to Sonmarg you can see the Almond Tree all over Manigao.The roads are beutiful and wide.You can also see the river Sind here which is enrouted to Pakistan from here.The population is basically of Gujjar creed.Once you will gross Gund district the roads are serpentine.The houses are like Pagoda in this part of he country.In this part of country is "Gagnog"is on the way and the place is filled with white snow which reminds me of snow white story or you can say about the movie "Frozen".The distance between Sonmarg and Gagnog is 8 Kms..You can visit "Gagnog Park".You can enjoy sledging and horse riding here.
Just before Sonmarg you can see the most famous glacier Thajjiwas.The source of this glacier is Sindh river

You can enjoy the glacier via horse or trecker or doli.You can visit Sonmarg from here.

How to reach the Glacier:

Thajiwas glaciers is one of the beautiful glacier range in sonmarg....Situated at Srinagar -sonmarg-leh national highway. ....many vehicles like Tata sumo, jeeps are available from main highway, horses are also available.A Tata Sumo (Rs. 1,800) to the drop point, from the drop point to the Tea tent stall its more than 1km of walking or Pony Ride.It is recommended to take a pony Ride as Walking can be difficult for some people as there is low oxygen.Sonamarg itself is a serene hilly place with flora , fauna and snow clad peaks. Thajwas Glacier adds to the charm. It is about 2 hours ride by pony from Sonamarg and charges are INR 750/- per pony. it is a comfortable ride without any steep elevation . there are no spine chilling narrow mountain roads. Its an arm-chair adventure.

Sonmarg in itself is a beautiful place full of natural grace and gifts. This charming little town of Sonmarg has some stunning blue water lakes and rich in color grasslands. From Sonmarg, you can also look at the towering snow clad mountains of the Ladakh region that are a real treat to eyes.

Places to Visit in Sonmarg: 

Nilagrad

Nilagrad is the place where confluence of a mountain river and Indus river takes place. The amazing thing about this place is that the water here in the river is of pure red color, which makes for a colorful sight. The locales here believe that the water has curative powers and can cure any skin ailments. In this belief, they take a bath in the river once every week. The largest crowd turns up on Sundays, as it is an off day.



Krishnasar Lake

Situated at a height of 3801 m above sea level, Krishnasar Lake is one of the most mesmerizing lakes in the chain of many Himalayan lakes. There will see travelers from all over the state coming here and enjoying themselves. Most of them will be engaged in Trout fishing which has made this lake a famous excur



Baltal


Baltal is extremely stunning grassland which is situated right at the foot of Zoji la pass, adjacent to Ladakh territory. Baltal is more famous for its closeness to Amarnath cave. There is a walk to the cave which is approximately 5 km away from here. During the Amarnath yatra, many pilgrims set up camps here to rest.sion spot.

Yusmarg


At a short distance from Sonmarg, Yusmarg makes for a perfect day picnic with views of the mountain range.The Baltic colony of Nilagrad is where the water of the river is reddish in colour. This is where a mountain river meets the Indus. The Baltics bathe in this confluence every Sunday and believe that the water possesses curative properties.

You can stay in Sonmarg for a day or two and enjoy he scenic beauty of the "Meadow of Gold".
During winter all the hotels get covered with snow.
